Interior Chinatown

July 19, 2021
Kofi, Sylvia, and Laura discuss Charles Yu’s Interior Chinatown. A novel written in the form of a screenplay for a movie, Interior Chinatown explores the history and the identity of Asian Americans, particularly focusing on stereotypes like Generic Asian Man and Kung Fu Guy.  At times funny and at times absurd, the novel shines light on not just the interior of the Golden Palace but also the interior life of Willis Wu. Kofi, Sylvia, and Laura share their different takes on the novel.
